WHAT’S THIS?

The R&D Driver developed by AVEHIL is a training program for professional drivers that runs with both single-seater and GT cars.

 

Work sessions are held with the driver and his team. When this is not possible, the AVEHIL staff always works with the driver in accordance with the philosophy of the team itself.

 

The R&D Driver is realized with the support of both the simulation rooms, single-seater and GT combined only with the AVEHIL Level 1 software.

 

It’s a monthly training program, in which the driver trains in the simulator in 4 weekly sessions of 4 hours each, switching between driving and data analysis session.

 

Drivers’ training is customized.

 

The R&D Driver prepares the driver to any sporting activity he participates in.

 

We face all race weekend phases with the driver: free practice, qualifying, race and post-race.

 

Once areas of improvement have been identified, at AVEHIL’s laboratory we create specific training programs and tailor-made training sessions that the driver can apply to the next track appointment.

In addition to our single-seater and GT simulator, at the AVEHIL laboratory we are able to utilise our proprietary equipment to develop a driver’s capacity to become a better overall racing driver.

Through the design of proprietary special tracks, we carry out driving sessions with the aim of developing specific driving techniques. Between these the “Superbrake” route stands out, a 17.7 km circuit which the driver develops the pure braking technique.

With the aim of recreating the scenarios that a driver experience during a race, we have created an instrument capable of raising his stress level. A dynamic and adaptive “ghost” introduces a real reference with which the driver must interact during the training, developing ideal trajectories and potential overtaking actions.

HOW IT WORKS

The R&D programs are customized to the needs of the individual driver, whether they are kart drivers for the first-time approaching single-seaters, whether they are experienced single-seater drivers. Below we show, as an example, the development of a training plan between 2 races.

Data acquisition and analysis

AVEHIL staff collects all data (previous season results, tires consumption, strategies, track changes, videos, data acquisitions ...) to prepare the training for next race.

Pre-race training

Preparation briefing to the following event: based on the information collected, we analyze with the driver the new racetrack in detail (trajectories, kerbs, asperities ...). Specific training sessions: simulate all the sessions on the track that the driver will have to face (free practice, qualifying, Race 1). The various driving activities are combined with subsequent phases of analysis and comparison of previous data.

Data acquisition and analysis

AVEHIL staff collects all data (data acquisitions, rankings, video images ...) to analyze driver’s performance during his previous race, in order to prepare an updated specific training session each time.

Post-race analysis and training

Post-race briefing: we review and analyze with the driver himself, all mistakes he has done during the different sessions after the race. Specific training session based on the mistakes made and shared with the driver, we set up the training session reproducing at the simulator the same conditions of the racing weekend in order to let the driver understand how not to repeat the same mistakes.
